Remember, school is back in session; please be alert and help keep our kids safe.

You’ve met exchange students before, but, have you ever thought about how they come to your school? PAX Program of Academic Exchange brings them! PAX is a nonprofit foreign exchange program bringing international high school students to homes and communities across the US. PAX has helped thousands of families gain a new "son" or "daughter" over the years and in each case, a terrific teen's dream has come true.
Today, you can contribute to this wonderful story by hosting an exchange student too! Students begin their program in Aug./Sept. 2024, and they can't wait to hear which family has selected them and find out about their American high school. Great family-student matches result when there are shared interests, outlooks, senses of humor, etc. You get to choose your new family member by reading their profile: you choose age, sex, interests, plus more and a letter to their future host family. Interested? Search amazing students here www.pax.org/finder Ready to jump on this opportunity? Apply here http://hub.pax.org
Can’t host, but want to help bring culture and diversity to your school? Help us find an American host family for one of our incoming exchange students, and you can earn $300. Through August 31, 2024, refer a family at www.pax.org/refer-families If that new family goes on to host a PAX student for the 2024/25 program, we'll thank you with $300. If they host two students, that's $600. Hosting options include a short-term “welcome” of 6-8 weeks beginning in Aug./Sept. or even the entire school year.

Welcome Back, Tigers! 🐅

Bus 20 will be running approximately 20-25 minutes late this afternoon, Wednesday, August 7th, 2024, due to a driver shortage. This affects student stops on West Broadway, West Washington, Udder Angels Daycare, and West Berry.

Thank you to the Anderson Corvette Club for their donation to support our students!

Today, we hosted our AMES 4th Annual Cornhole Tournament! It was wonderful to catch up with our staff, have a friendly competition of cornhole & enjoy delicious ice cream. Congratulations to our tournament winners, especially to our 1st place winners Mrs. DiRuzza & Mrs. Gaines!

Join us in wishing our newest teachers an amazing first day of school and a successful year ahead! We're so glad you've chosen to be part of our Alexandria Community Schools. Thank you to our teachers' union for welcoming our newest staff and hosting lunch.

Wow! We are so thankful for the First Baptist Church and Alexandria community for hosting their amazing Back to School Rally for families! There was so much support for families, such as school supplies, dinner, haircuts, YMCA, applications for free/reduce lunch, information from the fire and police department and the bookmobile! Thank you to our families for coming to the rally this evening!

Thank you to our outstanding AMES custodians for their tremendous efforts this summer in cleaning and preparing our school for the students return on August 7! You have set the stage for a fantastic start to the new school year. We appreciate you!

This fall we will be moving High School student drop off to the west side of the building. Students will enter through Door 8 by the Auxiliary Gym. The goal is that this will alleviate some of the traffic congestion dropping of students. To achieve this goal, we ask that high school parents come from the west down 1000N/11th Street, turn north onto Central Avenue, and then enter the parking lot via the south driveway. Drivers will drop off students along the sidewalk and proceed out the north exit. Please go south to 11th street and then west to leave. This path will keep you out of the Harrison Street traffic and out of the bus traffic in front of the elementary.
All Elementary student drop off will take place along the circle drive on the north side of the building. No parents should enter the elementary parking lot between 7:30AM and 8:00AM.

Please help me welcome Brad Batman as our new assistant principal for the junior/senior—high school. He is originally from Gas City. He and his wife, Lauren, reside in Westfield with their two cats. He has taught for nine years. He did six years at Blackford and 3 years at Hamilton Heights. He enjoys camping and is an avid game board player and collector. He also is a huge basketball fan, and the Pacers are his favorite team.

TRANSPORTATION CHANGES - SCHOOL BUS DROP OFF & PICK UP LOCATIONS
Beginning this fall, we will allow for one consistent pick-up and one consistent drop-off location for all students receiving school bus transportation. We service a student’s residence, or an approved alternate location including a child care location, the YMCA, etc. All pick up and drop off locations must be within Monroe Township.
After initial registration, all transportation changes must be requested in writing on the Transportation Change Form which can be obtained from your student’s school office. Any requests for exceptions need to be in writing with any supporting documentation provided. We are unable to accommodate temporary changes such as for sleepovers or vacations.
