Welcome to Alexandria-Monroe Elementary School!

Welcome to another exciting school year at Alexandria-Monroe Elementary School! I am Stacey Bowen, and it is an honor to serve as the principal of AMES. I am incredibly proud to be part of the Alexandria community and to work alongside our amazing students, dedicated staff, and supportive families.

This year marks my sixth year as principal at Alexandria-Monroe Elementary and my 27th year in education. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to serve as a special education teacher, classroom teacher, instructional coach, staff developer, assistant principal, and principal. Each of these experiences has strengthened my belief that every student deserves to feel known, valued, supported, and challenged to grow.

At AMES, we want school to be a place where students learn, grow, build relationships, have fun, and create lasting memories. Learning happens every day in our classrooms, but some of our most memorable moments happen when students experience something unexpected and exciting. In recent years, our students have had the opportunity to meet Boomer from the Indiana Pacers, Blue from the Indianapolis Colts, The Science Guy, and other special guests. These experiences bring learning to life and remind our students that school is a place to explore, discover, and dream big. We can't wait to see what this year has in store!

This year, our school-wide theme is PERSEVERANCE.

We know that learning isn't always easy. There will be times when students make mistakes, face challenges, or don't get something right the first time. That's okay. What matters is that they keep trying.

At AMES, we will encourage our students to:

Don't give up.

One of our messages this year is: “Experts in anything were once beginners.”

Every great reader, writer, mathematician, artist, athlete, scientist, and problem-solver started somewhere. Becoming successful takes practice, patience, effort, and perseverance. We want our students to understand that struggling doesn't mean you can't do something—it means you're still learning.

Our goal is to provide every student with a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment where they can take risks, make mistakes, persevere through challenges, and celebrate their growth. We believe in setting goals, reflecting on progress, and working together to become better learners.

One of the greatest strengths of Alexandria-Monroe Elementary is the partnership we share with our families and community. Our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) plays an important role in making AMES a special place for students and staff. From family events and student activities to staff appreciation and resources for our classrooms, the PTO continues to find meaningful ways to support our school. I encourage every family to get involved and be part of the AMES community!

Communication and partnership are also essential to our success. If you ever have a question, concern, or idea, please reach out to your child's teacher, our office staff, or me. When families and schools work together, our students benefit.

I am excited about the year ahead and all that we will accomplish together. Our students are at the center of everything we do, and I am grateful for the opportunity to watch them learn, grow, overcome challenges, and discover what they are capable of achieving.
